Garcia’s No-Hitter Lifts RV Softball Past Saint Michael’s in NE10 Opener

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Behind Gisselle Garcia's third no-hit performance of the 2025 season, RV Pace softball swept their doubleheader against Saint Michael's College on Saturday. The Setters secured back-to-back contests with a 2-0 game one victory and a 3-2 game two win.

With the Saturday sweep, the Blue and Gold move to 2-0 within the Northeast-10 (NE10) and 14-8 overall.

Game One
  • Three-time NE10 Pitcher of the Week Gisselle Garcia highlighted the first game of the day for Pace. The senior retired eight batters on strikes in the first three innings to help give the Setters momentum at the plate.
  • After four scoreless innings, the first runs of the doubleheader crossed the plate in the top of the sixth for Pace. A two RBI single from Sophie Valle put the home team ahead 2-0 while Saint Michael's failed to find success against the tall task of Garcia.
  • Two runs on the board were enough for the Setters as Garcia tossed her third no-hitter of the 2025 season, posting 15 strikeouts in the winning effort. The Lemon Grove, CA. native helped lead the Setters to their first in-conference win of the season behind another otherworldly performance in the circle.
Game Two
  • Game two presented a much closer contest between the Setters and Purple Knights.
  • The early innings favored the Setters, as runs in the second and third innings put them ahead 3-0. RBIs from Raelle Gorman and Mikayla Hughes drove the Blue and Gold ahead with Pricilla Del Toro in the circle.
  • The junior pitcher was efficient through her 4.1 innings of work, surrendering only three hits and two runs to Saint Michael's. After five innings, Pace had the advantage over the Purple Knight at 3-2.
  • In the final two innings, Alyssa Smart (1.2 IP, 2K's) and Garcia (1.0 IP, 2K's) split the pitching role to close out Saint Michael's by a final score of 3-2.
  • With another victory in the books, the Setters now have extended their winning streak to eight games.
Box Score Insights
  • Valle led the squad with two RBIs and two hits in the afternoon as Pace totaled six base-knocks in each game.
  • Kaylee Matsuda had an effective day in the batter's box, producing three hits and one run scored.
  • Raelle Gorman also had a multi-hit day with a 2-for-5 effort to go alongside two runs scored.
  • Garcia was outstanding in the circle in the twin-bill, earning a win and save throughout eight total innings with 17 strikeouts. Over her last 13 innings, the senior pitcher has not allowed a hit while notching 26 strikeouts.
Up Next (Franklin Pierce University)
The Setters return to the diamond tomorrow at noon for a twin-bill match-up against the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University, looking to extend their win streak to double-digits.
