WEST HAVEN, CT. – In a Saturday afternoon match-up against the University of New Haven, Pace baseball fell to the Chargers, by a final score of 6-3. The second contest of the three-game set goes to the home squad, as the series will come down to the final game tomorrow afternoon.
With the loss, the Blue and Gold move to 12-11 overall and 3-5 within the Northeast-10 (NE10).
Here's What Happened
- The Setters were the first to strike, posting a run in the top half of the fourth inning off a single from Brayden Sweppenhiser. Following a scoreless fifth, the Setters tallied two runs in the sixth, led by the bat of Sweppenhiser again. Heading into the bottom of the sixth, Pace led 3-0 over the Chargers.
- New Haven inched closer in the sixth with two runs scoring to bring Pace's advantage down to one run, 3-2. After the Blue and Gold failed to answer in the seventh, the Chargers swiped the lead behind a four-run inning, making the score 6-3 in favor of the home team.
- In the final two innings, the Setters could not shrink their deficit, resulting in a 6-3 loss on the road.
