Setters Cruise Past D’Youville in Cary

CARY, N.C. – Opening up their trip down south in Cary, N.C., Pace baseball defeated D'Youville University, 11-0. The Setters continued their hot streak at the plate, posting 14 hits in the winning effort against the Saints.

With the win, the Blue and Gold improve to 3-0 overall as they continue their trip down south against D'Youville tomorrow afternoon.

Here's what happened
  • The Setters wasted no time at the plate, jumping out to a 4-0 advantage after three innings. RBIs from Dominic Rivara, Mason Baronian, Matthew Franco, and Andrew Heppner led the early charge from Pace.
  • Later in the seventh, the Blue and Gold increased their lead to 10-0, highlighted by a three-run double from Benjamin Tullo. At the end of the eighth, the 11th run crossed the plate for Pace behind an RBI double from Rivara.
  • The duo of Robert Gilchrist (3.0 IP, 5 K's) and Anthony Apollaro (1.0 IP, 1K) concluded the contest in the final innings, putting the finishing touches on Pace's 11-0 shutout.
Box Score Insights
  • At the plate, Tullo shined, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Following the junior, Rivara added three RBIs (2-3), while Heppner posted two RBIs (2-3).
