Women’s Basketball Senior Trio Lead the Charge in Match Up with Hawks

PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Pace Women's Basketball hosted their senior day celebrations prior to tip-off with Northeast-10 (NE10) opponents Saint Anselm College Saturday afternoon.

The Setters recognized seven seniors in the day: Ciara Mulleady, Victoria Dieguez, Tower Lorde, Arianna Stockinger, Davionna Phillips, Katumina Mansaray, and Shanice Sinclair. In the contest, the Blue and Gold battled to keep up with the Hawks but ended up falling at the final buzzer for the 64-57 defeat.

Here's What Happened:
  • Saint Anselm opened the day with a 12-3 run against the hosts. Lorde broke the hot streak on a bucket inside the paint and the Setters eventually found themselves trailing by six, 16-10, after a Stockinger trey and another Lorde bucket at the end of the first.
  • Dieguez kept the scoring offense going into the second frame with an opening quarter layup, 16-12, followed by Sinclair with a point in the paint, 16-14. Ultimately after the Setters opened up with the hot hands, they featured their lowest scoring outing in the second with seven points and went into halftime trailing by 10, 27-17.
  • Both teams were on an even playing field in the third quarter after tallying 17 points apiece. With the final stanza about to begin, the Blue and Gold once again were down by 10, 44-34.
  • After every Setter bucket, the Hawks had the answer, despite the scoring efforts of Sinclair, Stockinger, Mansaray, Lorde and Ciara Collins. By the end of the day, the Setters fell 64-57 for the NE10 loss.
Box Score Insights:
  • Senior trio of Lorde, Mansaray, and Stockinger paced the team with double-figure points. Lorde led the scoring offense with 14 points with eight rebounds and two blocks. Mansaray had 12 points and three assists and Stockinger had 11 with two steals.
