PLEASANTVILLE, NY - #2 Pace Women's Lacrosse ignited their 2025 campaign with their home opener at Northwell Stadium versus RV Roberts Wesleyan Friday afternoon.
Mackenzie Carita and
Mary Kate Nawrocki led the charge with a collective of nine goals as the Setters dominated the field for the 20-8 non-conference victory.
Here's What Happened:
- The beginning of the day featured offensive highlights for the Redhawks when they held a 3-2 lead over the Setters. Marissa Doty caged her first collegiate career goal to equalize the score at three and back-to-back goals from Nikki Mottes and Carita allowed the Setters to begin to pull away from their opposers.
- Carita and Mottes kept the momentum going for the Blue and Gold with a 9-3 lead that eventually reached 12-3 with six minutes remaining in the first half. The Redhawks were able to keep the Setters at their 12th marker for the remainder of the first half, but during the second, the squad became unstoppable.
- Pace went on to record five goals compared to the Redhawks one in the third to which the game fell out reach and the Setters ultimately took the 20-8 victory by the end of regulation.
Box Score Insights:
- Carita led all goal socrers with five goals and one assist for six points while Nawrocki finished with seven points on four goals and three assists. Mottes raked in five points on three goals and two assists.
- Doty tallied three goals along with five draw controls and three caused turnovers and Annie Sheehan had two goals with three ground balls.
- Lisa Heffernan, Katie Long, Abigail O'Connor recorded a goal apiece.
- Samantha Tanguay receieved the win in net for the Setters in 60 minutes of action and tallied two saves.
