PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Pace Women's Basketball hosted the University of New Haven for a Northeast-10 (NE10) match up Tuesday evening in the Goldstein Fitness Center.
Arianna Stockinger and
Tower Lorde each tallied double-digit points to lead the squad, but the Chargers secured the 49-45 conference victory.
Here's What Happened:
- The Setters commanded the opening quarter after leading the Chargers 16-8 and by the beginning of the second, Lorde gave the Blue and Gold a 10-point advantage, 18-8.
- Right after Lorde's bucket, the Chargers went on a 9-0 run to trial by one, 18-17, and ended up entering halftime with a clean slate with the score tied at 22.
- Stockinger ignited the second half of play with a three as the Setters began to edge their opponents. The duo of Stockinger and Lorde assisted in a seven point lead, 30-23, and once again the Chargers battled back to trail by one with one quarter remaining in the night.
- New Haven's best scroing performance was featured in the final stanza when they tallied 20 points compared to the Setters 15. Pace trailed by five with three-minutes left and Katumina Mansaray made it a two point game on a trey, 43-41, but it was now the Chargers who edged their opponents as they handed the Setters the 49-45 defeat.
Box Score Insights:
- Stockinger led the team with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. Lorde was right behind with 10 points and tallied two steals and two blocks in the process.
- Mansaray finished with 7 points and two steals and Morgan Ryan with five.
- The Setters were able to force 17 Charger turnovers, but were out-rebounded 44-33.
