Women’s Basketball Outpaced by AIC in Saturday Contest

SPRINGFIELD, MA. — On Saturday afternoon, Pace University Women's Basketball dropped an in-conference match-up away from their home court to American International College, 88-67. With the loss, the Blue and Gold move to 4–4 overall and 1–2 in Northeast 10 play.

Pace showed strong stretches offensively, but a blistering early shooting display by the Yellow Jackets created separation that the Setters were unable to erase.

Pace opened with confidence behind early threes from Morgan Ryan and Ciara Collins, who also knocked down a pair of jumpers to keep the Setters within reach. Still, AIC's perfect 9-for-9 performance from three-point range in the first quarter pushed them ahead 33-18 after 10 minutes.

The Setters responded with improved half-court execution in the second frame, as Cali Chiocchi scored inside and added two free throws, while Ryan and Collins continued their rhythm from the perimeter. A late AIC basket sent Pace into halftime trailing 50–35.

The Blue and Gold struck quickly to start the third, with Collins and Grace Ziogas each connecting from deep. Chiocchi controlled the interior on both ends, and Ryan helped generate transition opportunities off defensive stops.

Despite the Setters' push, AIC countered with another extended run to widen its advantage. Pace stayed persistent in the fourth quarter, highlighted by two more finishes from Chiocchi, a layup from LyNeta Brand, and back-to-back buckets by Ciera Cevallos. Despite the late effort, the Blue and Gold ultimately dropped their road match-up, 88-67.

Collins led the Setters with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-for-5 from three. Ryan added 17 points with five made threes, and Chiocchi delivered 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

The Setters look to bounce back as they return to the Goldstein Fitness Center next Saturday, hosting Adelphi University at 1:30 p.m. as Pace celebrates Military Appreciation and Camp Reunion Day.
