WALTHAM, MA. – Pace University Field Hockey dropped a 3–1 decision at Bentley University on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play. Pace is now 8-10 overall and 7-5 in the NE10.
After a tightly played opening quarter, Bentley broke through in the 24th minute to take a 1–0 lead into halftime. Pace generated early pressure with two penalty corners and shots from
Feline Rook and
Olivia Martinez, but couldn't find the back of the cage.
Bentley added goals in the 36th and 38th minutes to extend its advantage to 3–0. Pace responded late in the fourth when
Feline Rook scored her seventh of the season, finishing a penalty-corner insert from
Olivia Martinez in the 56th minute to make it 3–1.
The Setters finished with nine shots and nine penalty corners, including shots on goal from Rook,
Anne Kopec, Martinez, and
Kyleigh Kearney.
Morgan Strecker played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded two saves.
Pace advances to the Northeast 10 Championship, with quarterfinal play set to begin next week. Entering the postseason as the sixth seed in the conference, the Setters will hit the road to battle Saint Anselm College on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
