NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Pace University field hockey earned a gritty 2–1 win at Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon , improving to 8–9 overall and 6–4 in Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) play.
Following a tightly contested first half, Morgan Strecker kept the game scoreless with several key stops to anchor the defensive unit. The breakthrough came midway through the third quarter when Grace Francis fired home her first goal of the season off an assist from Kyleigh Kearney to give Pace a 1–0 lead.
The advantage doubled early in the fourth as Enya Manzanera converted to make it 2–0. Southern Connecticut responded shortly after, but Pace's back line held firm down the stretch to close out the win. Strecker finished with nine saves in goal, including several in the closing minutes, to preserve the result.
Pace totaled eight shots and four penalty corners while withstanding 21 shots and 16 corners from the Owls. The victory marked a key late-season road result for the Blue and Gold.
Pace travels to Waltham, Mass., on Saturday, to face Bentley University in NE10 action at 1:00 p.m.
