Men’s Soccer Falls in Hard-Fought Battle at American International

SPRINGFIELD, MA. – Pace University Men's Soccer turned in a gritty performance on Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell just short in a 1-0 road loss to American International College in Northeast 10 Conference play. Facing one of the league's most physical sides at Ronald J. Abdow Field, the Setters controlled stretches of possession and created several dangerous chances but were unable to find the finishing touch in the attacking third. The result moves Pace to 5-8-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the NE10 as the regular season enters its final week.

The first half featured back-and-forth play as both sides generated early scoring opportunities. Thomas Lyden delivered the best chance for the Blue and Gold in the 17th minute, forcing AIC's keeper into a diving save on a low strike to the right post. Goalkeeper Khais Milligan anchored the defense with a pair of key stops midway through the half, helping the Setters head into the break level at 0-0.

The home side found the breakthrough in the 71st minute, as AIC's Pietro Botasso converted from close range following a cross into the box.

Milligan finished the day with five saves, while Nikita Dushkevich led the offensive charge with two shots on goal.

Daniel Santos and Ervin Radoncic also tested the Yellow Jackets' back line, as Pace finished with nine total attempts and two corner kicks in the contest.

Next in store for the Blue and Gold is a road meeting against Molloy University set for this coming Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
