Men's Soccer Roll Past Assumption on Homecoming Night

PLESANTVILLE, N.Y. – Fueled by an energetic Homecoming crowd under the Northwell Stadium lights, the Pace University men's soccer team put together a commanding second-half performance in a 3-1 victory over Assumption University on Friday night. The win lifts the Setters to 5-7-2 overall and 1-4-1 in Northeast 10 Conference play.

The Blue and Gold opened the night on the front foot, pressing high and creating early chances before breaking through in the 29th minute. Theo Poehlmann netted his first goal of the season off a well-timed pass from Nikita Dushkevich, giving Pace a deserved 1-0 edge. The Greyhounds managed to equalize just before halftime, scoring in the 44th minute to send the match into the break knotted at one apiece.

The Setters quickly regained control after intermission. In the 53rd minute, Dushkevich turned from provider to finisher, converting a setup from Derrick Henry to restore the Pace lead at 2-1. The hosts maintained their rhythm throughout the half, dictating possession and stifling Assumption's counterattack. The night was capped in the 83rd minute when Daniel Santos fired home his sixth goal of the year to seal the 3-1 triumph.

Freshman goalkeeper Khais Milligan made three saves in the victory, while the Setters recorded six shots on goal and displayed excellent composure in the defensive third. The win marks Pace's first NE10 victory of the 2025 campaign and fifth overall.

The Blue and Gold hit the road next Saturday for an NE10 meeting against American International College, set for 1:00 p.m.
