MANCHESTER, NH - #7 Pace Men's Basketball's undefeated reign comes to an end as Southern New Hampshire University handed the Blue and Gold the 64-62 loss Sunday afternoon.
In a low scoring first half, the Setters recorded 11 points compared to the Penmen 23. Despite outscoring their opponents 51-41 in the second, the team came up short for the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference defeat.
Here's What Happened:
- Tray Alexander gave the Blue and Gold their first five points of the day and what was the team's first and only lead of the afternoon, 5-3. The Penmen ultimately went on a 20-6 run to enter halftime leading 23-11.
- Trey Boyd III sparked the second half scoring for the squad. Since then, Pace went on to outperform the Penmen, 23-13, and slashed the host lead to just three, 37-34.
- That single digit deficit was once again increase back up to 10, 46-36. The Setter continued to battle and Jabari Nurse put the team withing four, 57-53, with just a little over a minute remaining in the day.
- As the final seconds were winding down, Christian Adams netted a bucket from the long range, 64-62, giving a little glimmer of hope to the squad to maintain their perfect record. Unfortunately, their efforts came up short and the Setters were defeated, 64-62.
Box Score Insights:
- Alexander led the team with 22 points, six steals and five assists followed by Boyd's 15-points and seven rebounds.
- Adams and Jaden Kealey tallied six points apiece while Josh Hopson recorded three blocks.
