COLCHESTER, VT - No. 21 Pace Men's Basketball matched up with Saint Michael's College in Colchester, VT Saturday afternoon.
After trailing the Purple Knights after the opening 20-minutes of the day, the Setters incredibly held the hosts to 18 points in the second and tallied 44 of their own to secure the 77-58 Northeast-10 (NE10) victory.
Here's What Happened:
- The Purple Knights dominated the hardwood during the first half when they led the Setters by at most 14 points (25-11) nine minutes before halftime. Trey Boyd III, Jabari Nurse, and Jaden Kealey aided in the Blue and Gold comeback that ultimately led to a Christian Adams three to enter intermission trailing by just seven, 40-33.
- During the second, the Setters' defense shined forcing eight Purple Knight turnovers throughout and converted them to 14 points to outlast the hosts. Tray Alexander had a hand in the momentum when he tallied three consecutive buckets while Boyd III found his rhythm behind the arc, 53-46.
- Two more Alexander markers backed by another Boyd III trey, the Setters have officially created a clean slate at 53.
- With a 17-2 Blue and Gold run in effect, the score favored Pace 70-55 giving the squad enough leverage to secure the win for their second straight, 77-58.
Box Score Insights:
- Alexander led all scorers with 24 points going 61% (11-18) from the field while recording five assists and four steals.
- Four more Setters' scorers recorded double-digit points. Boyd III with 17 for second on the team, Kealey with 13, Adams with 11, and Nurse with 10.
- Kealey tallied a double-double when he also grabbed 11 rebounds.
- In the comeback second half for the Setters, the squad shot 62% (18-29) from the field and 57% (4-7) from behind the arc.
