Boyd III Leads No. 21 Setters Past AIC on the Road

SPRINGFIELD, MA. – Behind a 23-point performance from Trey Boyd III, No. 21 Pace men's basketball came away victorious against American International College (AIC), 75-65. A strong start to the second half made the difference against the Yellowjackets as Pace improves to 16-3 overall, and 8-3 in the Northeast-10.

Here's What Happened
  • A rapid start of the offense end led Pace to an early 14-8 advantage over AIC. The Yellow Jackets answered back fueled by a 10-1 run to capture the lead, 18-15.
  • Both sides traded makes in the first-half seesaw battle and moving into halftime the Blue and Gold trailed by one-point, 33-32.
  • Jaden Kealey lit a fire for Pace to begin the second half scoring back-to-back buckets in under a minute. The strong start led to a 15-2 run from Pace giving the squad a 47-35 lead.
  • The Setters rode their impressive second-half start to the end never surrendering the lead to the Yellow Jackets. Despite AIC finding themselves within eight points towards the end of the contest, the Setters closed the door on their opponents to secure a 75-65 win away from their home court.

  • Boyd III knocked down eight field goals on the night en route to 23 points and two steals. The performance marks the sophomore's fourth game of the season with 20 or more points.
  • Kealey was Pace's next-highest scorer, tallying 14 points to go alongside five rebounds.
  • Tray Alexander contributed to his usual categories posting 12 points, eight assists, and four steals.
  • In the second half, the Setters gained control of the paint notching 24 points inside compared to the Yellow Jackets' 16.
