PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Pace Women's Basketball welcomed Assumption University to Goldstein Fitness Center Saturday afternoon in Pleasantville, NY for a Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference contest.
Katumina Mansaray tied a season-high of 20-points while shooting 56% (9-16) from the field to lead the Blue and Gold to a 67-61 victory.
Here's What Happened:
- In an evenly matched first quarter, the Blue and Gold held the one-point advantage, 14-13, and were led by Mansaray's eight points with additional markers from Ciara Collins, Tower Lorde, and Shanice Sinclair.
- Assumption tied it up at 22 and ultimately took the 24-22 lead midway through the second quarter, but it had minimal affect the Setter momentum. A Lorde freebee along with a Sinclair midrange jumper, the squad once again was on top by one, 25-24. Morgan Ryan's major step back trey was a key component of the Setter's energy shift as the hosts went on a 7-2 run to enter halftime in front, 32-28.
- Throughout the third quarter, the Setters continued to edge the Greyhounds after each opposing basket. Collins put Pace up by six, 49-43, with one more frame left to play.
- Mansaray's lone trey of the day (1-2 / 50%) gave the hosts the 12-point advantage, 63-51, which is their highest lead of the day. Thanks to the offensive surge, the Blue and Gold fended off any sense of a Greyhound comeback and ran away with the 67-61 victory… their fourth straight.
Box Score Insights:
- Mansaray led the charge with her 20-points while tallying three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Lorde recorded 15-points, second on the team, with six rebounds, and five blocked shots. Collins was right behind with 11 points.
- Sinclair assisted the Blue and Gold offense with five helpers.
- Pace shot 52% (30-58) from the field and defensively forced 17 Greyhound turnovers for 14 converted points.
