Setters Defensive Performance Hands Them Victory At Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, NY - Pace Women's Basketball hit the road Tuesday evening to Garden City, NY for a Northeast-10 (NE10) match up versus Adelphi University.

The Setters posted a dominating defensive presence where they held the Panthers to single digit points through three of the four quarters for the 53-32 win.

Here's What Happened:
  • After a 7-7 opening quarter, the Blue and Gold recorded 16 points with Morgan Ryan scoring half with eight, 23-15, during the second.
  • Ciara Collins got the Setters rolling after halftime with a midrange jumper and Tower Lorde following her lead with another bucket for the squad to continue to edge the hosts by 10, 27-17.
  • Stockinger featured majority of her points during the third. After Lorde's point in the paint for the 10-point advantage, the senior tallied the remainder of the Setters' 10 points of the quarter, each of them in the paint.
  • During the final stanza, the Blue and Gold posted a 14-0 run and held the Panthers to nil until just under the three-minute mark allowing the Setters to run away with the swift, 53-32 victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Ryan paced the team in her best performance of the season with 14 points and eight rebounds while Stockinger had 12 points and five rebounds. Lorde was the final Blue and Gold player to record double-digit points when she ended the night with 11.
  • Shanice Sinclair led the team with six assists and Ciara Mulleady had two steals.
  • The Setters limited scoring opportunities for the Panthers with zero second chance points for the hosts and Pace shot 47% (23-49) from the field.

Pace Women's Basketball (9-8/5-4 NE10) will return to the hardwood of the Goldstein Fitness Center on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1:30pm to host Assumption University.
