GARDEN CITY, NY - #7 Pace Men's Basketball matched up with Northest-10 (NE10) opponents RV Adelphi University Tuesday evening in Garden City, NY.
It was a battle of the
NABC ranked teams, as Pace improved back to #7 earlier today while Adelphi stayed receiving votes for a second consecutive week. The Panthers came out victorious, 67-59, despite the Setters outperforming in the second half.
Here's What Happened:
- Jaden Kealey and Jabari Nurse ignited the Setters offense with the first five points of the game, 5-3, but the momentum was put to a halt when Adelphi captured the 11-9 advantage and never relinquished the lead for the entire contest.
- Kealey put the Blue and Gold on a 7-4 run in the final minutes of the first half and the Setters entered halfitme trailing by 10, 35-25.
- Nurse had the hot hand to start the second with back-to-back threes in an attempt to get the Blue and Gold into a rhythm to stay with the Panthers, 41-31.
- With under two-mintues remaining in the night, Pace went into crunch mode with Tray Alexander, Trey Boyd III, Darren Fergus, and Kealey recording points. Kealey ended the night with a quick jumper with five seconds remaining, but the Setters came up short and fell, 67-59.
Box Score Insights:
- Alexander led all scorers with 18 points along with seven assists and three steals. Nurse posted 12 points going 4-7 (57%) from the long range with 2 steals.
- Kealey led on the boards with 12 and tallied nine points with four steals.
- The squad shot 36% (20-56) from the field and 35% (7-20) from behind the arch.
