No. 11 Setters Earn Gritty Win Over Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – In a contest decided in the final minutes, Pace men's basketball earned their 15th win of the year, 66-62, against Saint Anselm College. Tray Alexander's 20 points and 7 assists highlighted the road victory as the Setters move to 15-1 overall, and 7-1 within the Northeast-10.

Here's What Happened
  • Straight out of the gates, Pace's defense made their presence known with the Hawks missing their first 11 shots from the field. With the impressive start on the defensive end, the Setters leaped out to a 12-4 advantage.
  • Utilizing a 14-6 run, the Hawks evened up the score at 18 apiece and then scored eight of the final 14 points taking a 26-24, into the locker room.
  • In the second half, Alexander continued to find his hot spots capitalizing several times with his soft touch floater from the high post. With two straight makes from the Freeport, N.Y. native Pace held a 46-41 lead with ten minutes remaining. Both sides fought back and forth in the second half and neither side pulled away in the close NE10 match-up.
  • With the deciding moments coming in the final minutes, a clutch make from Trey Boyd III lifted the Setters to a 62-61 lead. On the other end, the Hawks answered back dropping a contested layup to bring the score to 62-61 with the clock ticking down by seconds.
  • Forced to foul, the Hawks sent Alexander to the charity stripe with 16 seconds left in the contest. Nothing by nylon from Alexander stretched Pace's lead back up to three, 64-61.
  • After sending the Hawks to the free-throw line, Jabari Nurse put the finishing touches on Pace's victory knocking down both of his attempts at the line.
  • In the tight-knit in-conference battle, the Setters prevailed 66-62 over the Hawks earning their 15th win of the 2024-25 season.

  • The country's leader in assists and steals, Alexander put together another impressive performance for the Setters posting 20 points, 7 assists, and 5 steals.
  • Boyd III shined for Pace scoring 12 of his 14 total points in the second half. Jamaal Waters and Jaden Kealey were the next-highest scorers for the Blue and Gold each posting eight points in the win.
  • Josh Hopson was a force on the glass grabbing a season-high 13 rebounds to go along with seven points.
  • Second-chance points helped turn the tables with Pace scoring 15 compared to Saint Anselm's five.
