LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Pace women's soccer headed into their Saturday afternoon with a non-conference match versus the Chestnut Hill College (CHC) Griffins in Lakewood, N.J.
In the event, the Setters were trailing 2-0 for majority of the contest, but netted two goals in a two minute span to draw with their opponents for a 0-1-1 record to start the season.
Here's What Happened:
- The Griffins were quick on the pitch when they posted the first goal of the day for the 1-0 advantage.
- Throughout the remainder of the first, Pace was able to out-shoot CHC 7-6 but couldn't boot the ball past the keeper. The Griffins maintained their offensive edge when they tallied another goal around the 78th minute to force the Setters to trail by two; their first goal had yet to be seen.
- As time began to wind down, Alexis Lee gave the glimmer of momentum the Setters needed to put themselves on the board when she recorded her first goal of the season on a Kyra Sienkiewicz assist. Ava Viebrock tied it up less than two-minutes later, 2-2, to force the tie with the Griffins.
- CHC got one more opportunity with a shot on goal, but Anna Fiore stopped any sign of them edging the Setters.
Box Score Insights:
