LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Pace University women's soccer kicked off their first match of the 2024 season in Lakewood, N.J. at Georgian Court late Thursday afternoon.
After a full 90 minutes of play, the Setters were ultimately defeated by the Lions, 3-1, despite the efforts of junior,
Ava Viebrock.
Here's What Happened:
- The Lions were swift with their first goal of the game just a little under the six minute mark, 1-0. Soon after, Viebrock equalized the score when she found the back of the net on a pass from Hildur Unnarsdóttir, 1-1.
- Prior to the end of the first, the Lions posted another goal to enter halftime in front, 2-1.
- Opening the second, Viebrock continued to grind with four shots, two on goal, in an effort to once again level the playing field, but to no avail. However, another host goal put the game out of reach to close out the Setters opening day with a 3-1 defeat.
Box Score Insights:
- Viebrock led the offensive charge with five shots, three of them on goal, and a goal for the Setters while Unnarsdóttir posted an assist.
- Keeper, Anna Fiore, recorded eight saves throughout her time in the net.

Women's Soccer (0-1) will return to action on Saturday afternoon for another non-conference match-up with Chestnut Hill College in Lakewood. Kick-off is set for noon.
