PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Two assists and a goal from
Krista Dietz led Pace field hockey past Slippery Rock University 4-1 Monday afternoon. The victory marks the Setter's first win on their home turf as they move to 2-3 in the 2024 regular season.
Here's What Happened
- Anne Kopec wasted no time for the Blue and Gold finding the back of the net ten minutes into the game off an assist from Dietz. The Setters took advantage of an early corner to bring the score to 1-0 at the beginning of the contest.
- For the second goal, Dietz corralled a penalty corner and snuck in a shot past the goalkeeper for her 60th career goal. At the end of the second, Pace was ahead of Slippery Rock 2-0.
- The Rock brought the score to within one capitalizing off a penalty corner three minutes into the second half. Pace's lead was cut to 2-1 but that did not last long as the Setters struck again four minutes later.
- Off the stick of Jenna McCrudden, the Setters tallied their third goal of the day to increase the lead to 3-1.
- With seven minutes remaining in the game, Patience Mares scored her first collegiate goal to put the Setters ahead 4-1. The goal was enough for Pace to hold on to the victory as they improve to 2-3 overall.
