FROSTBURG, MD. – In an overtime thriller, Pace field hockey earned their first win of the 2024 season behind a hat trick from
Jenna McCrudden. A career-high in goals from the graduate student was enough to help Pace sneak past Frostburg State University 3-2.
Here's What Happened
- After a scoreless first quarter, McCrudden opened the scoring with a goal at the 17-minute mark. Heading into the half, Pace held a one-goal lead over Frostburg State.
- Halfway through the third, McCrudden increased the lead to 2-0 with her second goal of the day helping the Setters take a two-goal advantage into the final quarter.
- The Bobcats kept the pressure on Pace trimming the lead to one off a rebound goal just 30 seconds into the fourth quarter. With their backs against the wall in the final minute, Frostburg State capitalized to tie the game 2-2. In their fourth game of the season, the Setters needed extra time to decide a winner.
- Eight minutes into the first overtime, McCrudden put an end to the game off a fastbreak opportunity earning her third goal of the afternoon and first career hat trick. The Setters held the 3-2 lead in the final two minutes to solidify their first win of the season improving to 1-3 overall.
