Dietz Tallies a Goal in Loss to No. 2 East Stroudsburg

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace field hockey fell at the hands of No. 2 East Stroudsburg University Wednesday afternoon at Peter X. Finnerty Field by a final score of 1-4. After a tight-knit first half, three goals in the third period from the Warriors decided the contest as the Setters drop to 0-3 overall in the early portion of the year. 

Here's What Happened
  • In the first half, both teams showcased their defense as the Setters and Warriors headed into the locker room scoreless.
  • Five minutes into the second half, the Warriors were the first to strike coming off a penalty corner. Jady van Gils launched a goal into the back of the net to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. East Stroudsburg closed the third with two more goals taking a 3-0 advantage into the final period.
  • Following a fourth goal from the visitors, Krista Dietz deflected a shot in for a goal to bring the score to 1-4 with Pace trailing.
  • East Stroudsburg managed to hold possession the rest of the way handing the Blue and Gold their third loss of the season.
Box Score Insights
  • Dietz produced her second goal of the season while Katelyn Fairhurst recorded her first assist.
  • Celeste Pagliaroli saved ten shots in the contest throughout 55 minutes of play. Off the bench, Morgan Strecker made four saves in only four minutes.
  • Penalty corners made the difference in the match-up as East Stroudsburg had 15 compared to Pace's 3. As a result, the Warriors managed 28 total shots while the Setters had 12.
Next up for field hockey is a road match-up against Frostburg State University with action set to kick-off on Saturday at noon.
