PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace field hockey fell at the hands of No. 2 East Stroudsburg University Wednesday afternoon at Peter X. Finnerty Field by a final score of 1-4. After a tight-knit first half, three goals in the third period from the Warriors decided the contest as the Setters drop to 0-3 overall in the early portion of the year.
Here's What Happened
- In the first half, both teams showcased their defense as the Setters and Warriors headed into the locker room scoreless.
- Five minutes into the second half, the Warriors were the first to strike coming off a penalty corner. Jady van Gils launched a goal into the back of the net to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. East Stroudsburg closed the third with two more goals taking a 3-0 advantage into the final period.
- Following a fourth goal from the visitors, Krista Dietz deflected a shot in for a goal to bring the score to 1-4 with Pace trailing.
- East Stroudsburg managed to hold possession the rest of the way handing the Blue and Gold their third loss of the season.
