PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Early Tuesday afternoon (7/23), Pace University Baseball's pitching staff was crowned by the NCAA as the 2024 Earned Run Average (ERA) Statistical Champion after boasting a 3.21 ERA that led the entire Division II.
During the most recent season, the Setters dominated the mound as they ranked first in ERA and also Hits Allowed Per Nine Innings and WHIP. Through the 47 game schedule, or 409.2 innings pitched, the pitching staff surrendered 180 runs, 146 of them being earned for their finalized statistic, and 310 hits for 6.81 hits per game, combined with 184 walks for a 1.21 WHIP.
Setter veterans,
Patrick Gleason (2.70) and
Dan Brown (2.75), etched their named among the top-10 pitchers for lowest ERA in the NE10 and in the top-25 in Division II to assist with the accomplishment.
Additionally, 12 of 14 blue-and-gold pitchers have posted a 3.90 ERA or lower; an immense improvement from the 2023 season where the squad finished with a 4.39 ERA.
