KANSAS CITY, MO – On Monday, the NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) announced the recipients of the 2023-24 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court. The NABC's academic awards recognize teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball.
To receive the Team Academic Excellence Award, a program must achieve a team GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.0 or higher for the academic year. The Pace University men's basketball team were among those honored for the award, after maintaining a 3.24 team GPA.
Seven Setters obtained NABC Honors Court, given to a junior, senior, or graduate student-athlete with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher after the academic year. Among the honorees were Bryan Powell, Tray Alexander, Sean Bresnan, Jamaal Waters, Marc Dadika, Jaden Kealey, and Justin O'Neill. All seven contributed significantly to the Blue and Gold's successful season.
In 2023-24, over 2,100 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court, and over 360 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards.
"The NABC is proud to celebrate these accomplished student-athletes, along with the coaches and staff who champion success in the classroom," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "Education is a core value of the NABC, and the teams and athletes who earned these awards are proof that academic achievement remains a priority across every level of our sport."
