MANCHESTER, NH. – The No. 7 Pace University men's lacrosse team shared Grappone Stadium for the second time in less than two weeks with the No. 8 Saint Anselm College, this time in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals. It was a game of runs but when there were zeros on the clock, Saint Anselm edged Pace 12-11.
Pace struck first.
Ryan Kemp got the ball behind the net and found
Declan Landers in front of the net who deposited it in the back of the cage on the Setter's first offensive trip down the field. Pace once again got the ball, and Kemp did it himself this time to gain a 2-0 lead with 11:37 left.
Kemp once again struck, after
Colin Reese was patient looking for an opening, he found Kemp who sniped a shot to the low post to take a 3-0 lead and force the Hawks into a timeout with 9:29 left in the opening quarter.
The Hawks responded with three goals of their own tying the game at 3-3 with 2:55 left, and gained the lead with 27 seconds left to take a 4-3 advantage into the second quarter. All four of the Hawks' goals came from different players.
A fifth unanswered goal came less than 30 seconds into the second quarter to take a 5-3 advantage.
Pace stopped the bleeding thanks to
Caden Hallinan who used an angle dodge to create just enough space to get a shot in the back of the cage, making the score 5-4 with 10:19 left.
Dominic Veratti returned the game to a deadlock, this time at 5-5, taking a pass from Kemp who was behind the net and an over-the-shoulder shot did the trick with 5:42 left.
The two teams didn't find the scoreboard for a little but coming out of a Pace timeout, Kemp once again found Landers, this time cutting to the net, with seven seconds left to gain a 6-5 edge, an advantage that the Blue and Gold would take into halftime.
The lead swung back to Saint Anselm as the Hawks scored five unanswered goals in the third quarter, which gave the home team a 10-6 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Reese fired his 19
th goal of the year within the first minute of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to three, 10-7. The lead was chipped down to two, thanks to Kemp who worked his way through multiple Hawks to get in front of the net and finish easily, making the score 10-8 with 8:47 left.
A pole goal cut the lead to one, taking a long pass from Kern,
Chris Butler bounced the shot under the crossbar to get within one, 10-9. Pace won the ensuing face-off and got set up, Kemp once again took matters into his own hands and tied the game up at 10-10 with 6:34 left as Saint Anselm called a timeout.

Saint Anselm managed to tie the game with 49 seconds left as they beat Kern for the 11
th time to force bonus lacrosse. The ensuing face-off went to Saint Anselm who called one more timeout to draw up a play. The play was exactly what they needed as Colin Mulvey scored with 18 seconds left to escape with a win.
