Setters Fall to Felician in Final Home Game of Regular Season

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Golden Falcons of Felician University kept the Setters in check as the Pace University baseball team fell in Tuesday's match-up, 1-0 With three games remaining in the regular season, Pace sits at 25-16 overall, and 15-9 within the Northeast-10.

In a pitcher's duel, both sides struggled to bring runs across. The score remained at zero until the sixth inning when Felician tallied the contest's lone run.

The Golden Falcons jumped ahead 1-0 after an errant play in the field from the Setters in the top of the sixth. The single run from Felician was enough to take the win from Pace as the score remained 1-0 throughout the final innings.

The Setters had multiple chances to tally a run in the game but the pitching of Felician held the home squad to zero. Despite the Setters knocking seven hits compared to Felician's three the visitors scraped by to secure the victory.

Vincent Vartolone had a solid outing for Pace as he went four innings while striking out five batters before handing over responsibilities to the bullpen. The combination of Marco Siracusa, Ryan Degnan, Brendan McCann, and Sean Costello provided stellar support in relief. The bullpen combined for no hits allowed and six strikeouts in five innings.

Matthew Rinaldi produced two hits and a walk at the top of the order for Pace. Dylan Koch and Anthony Labita each added a hit in the game. In the bottom of the order Justin Crispino, Dominic Rivara, and Hunter Goldstein accounted for the rest of Pace's base-knocks.

Next up on the schedule for the Blue and Gold is a three-game series against Southern Connecticut State University. On Friday at 3:30 p.m. Pace begins the series with a single game match-up before a Saturday doubleheader to conclude the regular season.
