Civitella’s Shutout Lifts Setters Past Saint Rose

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Vincent Civitella's complete game shutout helped the Pace University baseball team earn the series win over the College of Saint Rose, 2-1. After splitting their doubleheader yesterday, the Setters took game three of the series 4-0. With four games remaining in the 2024 regular season, Pace sits at 25-15 overall, and 15-9 within the Northeast-10.

After two scoreless innings to begin the game, Pace tallied the first run of the game in the bottom half of the third. Anthony Labita crushed his fourth home run of the year to put the Setters ahead 1-0.

On the mound, Civitella coasted through Saint Rose's lineup in one of his most impressive pitching performances of the season. Zeros remained on the visitor's scoreline throughout the contest as Civitella had his way on the bump.

After the score stayed at 1-0 through seven innings the Setters added more to their run total in the bottom of the eighth. Mason Baronian and Justin Crispino both produced an RBI in the inning to bring the score to 3-0.

Pace brought home their final run of the day on a wild pitch to extend their lead to 4-0 heading into the ninth. Civitella then stepped on the mound for one more inning and kept the Golden Knights off the board to secure the series victory.

Civitella pitched a complete game shutout allowing five hits while striking out seven batters. Labita (2-for-4, 1 RBI) Rinaldi (2-for-4, 1 walk) and Crispino (3-for-4, 1 RBI) lead the way offensively for the Blue and Gold.

As the end of the 2024 regular season nears, the Setters match up against Felician University for a Tuesday afternoon out-of-conference game. The first pitch on Tuesday will be thrown at 3:00 p.m. at Peter X. Finnerty Field.
