Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 1 Pace Clinches Share of Regular Season Title with Win Over No. 18 Bentley

WALTHAM, MA. – From the opening draw, the No. 1 Pace University women's lacrosse team controlled the game and came out on top of No. 18 Bentley University, 17-8, Saturday afternoon on the road to clinch a share of the Northeast 10 Women's Lacrosse regular season championship as well as the top seed in the upcoming Northeast 10 Women's Lacrosse Championships.

The Setters continue their perfect season, improving to 16-0 while going to 10-0 in NE10 play. Pace closes out the regular season next Tuesday at Northwell Stadium, hosting Assumption University at 7 p.m.

Pace's offense came out firing and pulled away in the opening quarter, overwhelming the Falcon's defense with seven unanswered goals in the first quarter. Margaret Flocco started the party, scoring exactly 60 seconds into the game. Nikki Mottes got her first goal of the game 10 seconds later and the floodgates opened. The next five goals came off the sticks of Sydney Juvelier, a pair of Angelina Porcello goals, and one more from Mottes and Flocco to take a 7-0 lead with 2:44 left in the opening quarter.

After the salvo of offense, Bentley did manage one goal before the horn to make it a 7-1 Pace advantage at the end of the first 15. The second quarter was much less eventful, with each team trading two goals to make it a 9-3 advantage at halftime.

The game was put out of reach in the third quarter. Bentley showed some life scoring two straight goals, but a Maddie Schubert goal kick-started a spurt that featured back-to-back Mottes goals and was topped off by Flocco connecting with Audrey Colucci to make the score 14-5 as the final quarter loomed.

Mottes finished with eight points on five goals and three assists. Flocco fired off four goals while Porcello and Juvelier turned in hat tricks. Sasha Kulo corralled seven draw controls while Alexandra Quinn received six.
