No. 1 Pace Controls All Levels of the Game to Take Down Southern Connecticut

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – A team effort led the No. 1 Pace University women's lacrosse team to a 19-8 win over Southern Connecticut State University at Northwell Stadium Wednesday evening. The win marks head coach Tricia Molfetta's 100th career win.

Pace improves to 13-0 overall and 7-0 in Northeast 10 play. Up next for the Blue and Gold is senior day this coming Saturday, Apr. 20 when they host the College of Saint Rose at 12 p.m.

The visitors appeared to be in control after the first quarter, scoring the final three goals of the quarter to enter the second quarter with a slim 5-3 advantage.

That lead did not last long as the next five goals went in favor of the home team, including two women-up goals, coming from Margaret Flocco and Maddie Schubert. When SCSU stopped the bleeding, Pace swung the lead over to their side with an 8-6 advantage and took a 10-7 lead into halftime.

The nail in the coffin came in the third quarter as the Pace defense clamped down on the Owl's offense, keeping them completely off the board while scoring four goals to run the lead up to double digits and it would never dip below. The lone goal the defense would give up came in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Schubert continued her breakout offensive season, scoring six goals this evening while Sydney Juvelier fired five of her own. Mackenzie Carita contributed a hat trick.

Angelina Porcello only scored once but made her impact felt in every other facet of the game. Porcello connected eight ground balls, caused seven turnovers, received five draw controls, and dished out four assists.

Alexandra Quinn and Delilah Doyle each caused four turnovers while Julianna Febbraio forced three of her own.
