WALTHAM, MA – On the road Saturday, the Pace University baseball team was swept by Bentley University, losing game one 2-10, and game two 2-0. The Setters fall to 20-10 overall, and 10-5 within the Northeast-10.
Game One
Despite scoring the first run of the contest off an RBI from Hunter Goldstein the Setters could not keep up with the efficient offense of Bentley. A five-run third inning was enough for the Falcons to take control as they cruised to a 10-2 victory at home.
The Blue and Gold mustered only three hits in the game compared to Bentley's eight. The Falcons were highlighted by the impressive pitching from Pat Heber. Heber tossed 7.2 innings striking out seven batters while surrendering one hit and one run.
Game Two (7 innings)
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Setters back struggled to find momentum at the plate against the Bentley pitching staff. In the contest, Pace tallied five hits but failed to bring a run across the plate as Bentley continued to find their way out of tough situations.
A two-run homer from Steven Rizzuto put the Falcons ahead, 2-0, in the fifth which ended up being the only score of the game. Matt Tyman earned the win for Bentley while Jayden Longdin came out of the bullpen for the save.
