Setters Handle Lions for Comfortable Win

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Angelina Porcello and Maddie Schubert combined for nine goals as the No. 1 Pace University took down Georgian Court University, 18-10 at Northwell Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The Setters improve to 2-0 ahead of the team's Monday night match-up with the University of Tampa at 6 p.m under the lights.

Porcello and Schubert scored the first two goals of the game for the Blue and Gold to take an early lead that would never go away. The Lions did respond with a pair of man-up goals in the quarter but following those two, Porcello once again scored and Mackenzie Carita scored man-down to allow Pace to take a 5-2 lead into the half.

Carita opened up the scoring in the second quarter, and a couple minutes later Porcello once again found the back of the net to run the lead up to 7-2. Throughout the rest of the second quarter, for every Lion goal, the Setters responded with two of their own to take an 11-4 lead into the break.

Georgian Court struck first in the third with a pair of goals to close the gap to 11-6. The Setters put the game out of reach by scoring the final three goals of the quarter to take a 14-6 lead into the final 15 minutes.

Porcello finished with five goals, four ground balls and caused turnovers as well as seven draws controls.

The Setter defense was suffocating this afternoon, causing an impressive 21 turnovers while only committing 13 of their own.

Pace dominated the draw circle, with Julianna Febbraio securing nine draws.
