PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Brayden Sweppenhiser led the Pace University baseball team's offense with four RBI's in a dominant 10-3 win over Dominican University. Following the win, the Setters improve to 6-4 on the season with their first in-conference match-up set for Friday afternoon.
Pace kick-started the scoring on the day, with four second inning runs. Robbie Caffrey, Dominic Rivara, Luke Rivara, and Sweppenhiser all tallied an RBI in the inning to help the Setters take control of the game, 4-0.
Dominican brought home one run in the third, but the Setters kept their foot on the gas pedal, answering with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Sweppenhiser added his second RBI in the contest with a single, while Dylan Koch brought home another run with a single.
The Blue and Gold increased their lead to 10-1 after tallying two runs in each the sixth and seventh innings. Sweppenhiser produced an RBI in each inning to bring his total up to four in the match-up. The Setters cruised the rest of the way to a commanding 10-3 victory over Dominican.
At the dish, the freshman Sweppenhiser continues to impress early on in the season for the Blue and Gold. The Stroudsburg, PA native went 3-for-4, scoring three times, while driving home four RBI's.
On the mound, Pace utilized five different arms in the contest with Vincent Civitella earning the win. It was a productive afternoon all-around for the squad, knocking 13 hits, and four extra base hits while allowing just five base-knocks for the visitors.
Pace opens conference play Friday afternoon against Adelphi University with the first pitch set for 3:00 p.m.
