PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's basketball team suffered a setback against Assumption University, 48-62, Wednesday afternoon. Following the loss, the blue and gold fall to 15-9 overall, and 9-9 within the Northeast-10.
An impressive opening quarter from the Greyhounds left the Setters with a nine-point deficit, 6-17, heading into the second. Pace had a productive second quarter keeping stride with the visitors as they entered the half trailing, 23-36.
In the second half, Pace was outmatched by Assumption as the blue and gold failed to surpass the Greyhounds in either of the final two quarters. With the 62-48 victory, Assumption claims their conference-leading 20th win of the season.
In the match-up, Assumption made 45.3 percent of their attempts from the floor compared to Pace's 34.4 percent. Points off turnovers made the difference for the Greyhounds as they secured 17 points compared to the Setter's ten.
Assumption's offense was highlighted by 19-points from Marina Callahan. The junior forward posted a double-double in the match-up, grabbing ten rebounds.
Pace was led by Katumina Mansaray as the senior guard posted 13 points to go with two steals. Arianna Stockinger supplied 11 points while Ciara Collins had ten.
The Setters return to action for a Saturday 1:30 tip-off against Southern New Hampshire University on the road.
