PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Pace Women's Basketball stays on top when they defeated Saint Michael's College (SMC), 59-51, on Saturday afternoon at Goldstein Fitness Center.
Arianna Stockinger posted a career-high 25 points, scoring 21 through three-quarters of play, as the Blue and Gold captured their second consecutive Northeast-10 (NE10) victory.
Here's What Happened:
- Pace ignited the day with an 11-2 run with Ciara Collins and Victoria Dieguez each netting a trey and Shanice Sinclair and Arianna Stockinger locking down the mid-range. Collins continued to pace the Setters as the first quarter ended with her back-to-back buckets for the 23-12 advantage.
- The Purple Knights went 10-10 from the charity stripe in the first half to slash the hosts' lead to five, 29-24, but that would be the final points of the second quarter for the team. Katumina Mansaray and Stockinger scored once more as the game reached the halfway point with the Setters in front 33-24.
- In the third, the opponents held the Setters to nine points while they rallied 13 to trail by five, 42-37, with 10 minutes remaining in the day.
- Saint Michael's were swift with a trey to spark the fourth and slashed their five-point deficit to two, 42-40. Collins and Morgan Ryan scored from behind the arc for the Blue and Gold to edge the squad, 48-42, and the Setters ultimately ran away with the 59-51 NE10 victory.
