#11 Setters Second Half Sharp Shooting Secures Win Versus Jefferson

PLESANTVILLE, NY – No.11 Pace Men's Basketball hosted their final contest of 2024 in Goldstein Fitness Center with a non-conference match with RV Jefferson University Saturday afternoon.

After trailing by one entering halftime, the Setters toppled the Rams 49-37 in the second while shooting 50% from the field (14-28) for the 76-65 victory to maintain their perfect record of 11-0.

Here's What Happened:
  • The first half of play favored the Rams as the opponents shot 43% (6-16) from the three-point line. The Setters' scoring offense was ignited by Jabari Nurse with a layup and Jaden Kealey, who made it a five-point Blue and Gold lead with a bucket in the paint, 8-3.
  • Soon, the Rams began lighting up the long range with back-to-back treys to cut the lead to one, 10-9 and from there, the score flipped or tied in almost every possession until the half where the Rams sat up by one, 28-27.
  • Second half sharp shooter, Trey Boyd III, assisted in the massive Setter surge to topple the Rams in the day. With the Blue and Gold back to trailing by one, 38-37, Boyd began his attack with a three for the 2 point advantage of 40-38.
  • Nurse skyrocketed the Setters momentum on a dunk and soon after, Boyd continued his long range hot streak with the Setters edging their opponents, 46-43. After the sophomore's bucket, the squad held the upper hand for the remainder of the contest and ran away with the 76-65 victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Boyd tied a season-high of 20 points while grabbing eight rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
  • Tray Alexander had 14 points along side Nurse and Kealey posted 11. Alexander also snagged three steals with seven assists.
