Win Streak Continues! No. 11 Men's Basketball Defeats CSI

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - No. 11 Pace Men's Basketball hit the road to play non-conference opponents the College of Staten Island (CSI) in Staten Island, NY Wednesday evening.

The Setters keep their winning streak alive as they improve to 12-0 to start the first half of the season after a toppling 78-46 victory over the Dolphins.

Here's What Happened:
  • The moment Jaden Kealey recorded the first points of the game, the Setters would hold the lead for the entire contest. Trey Boyd III's first two buckets of the game came from back-to-back threes for the 11-4 advantage over the hosts.
  • By the end of the first half, Jabari Nurse gave the squad their largest lead so far in the contest of 13, 37-24, after an offensive grab for a swift layup at the buzzer.
  • CSI started the second half on a 5-2 run and slashed the lead to 10. Josh Hopson increased the advantage back to 13 on a three of his own and Nurse would soon make it 15, 44-29. Kealey, Nurse, Boyd, and Tray Alexander assisted in an 8-0 Blue and Gold run to sit on top 60-39, and even with their lead, it was all gas no breaks.
  • In the final minutes of the contest, the Setters featured points by Jayden James and Justin Noelizaire, which was his first collegiate career points, and the team ran away with the 78-46 victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Nurse paced the team with 17 points and filled the stat sheet with four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.
  • Kealey tallied 15 points, shooting 55% (6-11) from the field, and grabbed six rebounds. Boyd III, who was this week's Northeast-10 Player of the Week, finished with 11 going 60% (3-5) from behind the arc.
  • Hopson led the team on the boards with eight and Alexander with 10 assists.
  • The Setters forced 20 Dolphin turnovers and converted them to 25 points in the win. They also shot 53% (32-61) from the field and 43% (6-14) from the three.

Pace Men's Basketball will be back in action after the new year on Thursday, Jan. 2, in Connecticut when they jump back into conference play versus Southern Connecticut State University. Tip-off set for 7:30pm.
