WILMINGTON, DE - No. 11 Pace Men's Basketball dominated the hardwood at Wilmington University (Del.) when they defeated their opponents 99-60 Tuesday evening.
After the non-conference victory, the Setters posted a new standard for the best start of a season as they sit undefeated 10-0. Additionally in the night, seven Blue and Gold players recorded double-digit points and two of them tallied a double-double in respective categories.
Here's What Happened:
- Wilmington opened up the contest in front with a 15-9 lead over the Setters. MBWA Player of the Week, Jaden Kealey, and Jamaal Waters equalized the score for a clean slate at 15 which ultimately led to Jabari Nurse giving the squad the 18-15 advantage.
- The four score ties and seven lead changes were featured throughout the first half and it was Darren Fergus who ignited a 16-4 scoring run for the 43-31 lead at the half.
- Trey Boyd III's offensive game came alive in the second when he scored all of his 15 points in the night throughout the final 20-minutes of play. Back-to-back buckets from behind the arc gave Pace the 17 point edge, 50-33, and he was soon backed by his teammates, Tray Alexander and Josh Hopson, to make the lead reach 20, 57-37, with over 15-minutes remaining.
- A massive 29-8 Setter run, led by the sharp shooting of Boyd, put the game out of reach for the hosts. Hopson gave the Setters their largest lead of 42 (94-54) from a bucket inside the paint and the Blue and Gold ran away with the 99-60 victory.

- The seven double-digit scorers for the Setters were Alexander (16), Boyd III (15), Kealey (13) Nurse (11), Hopson (11), Waters (12), and Fergus (10).
- Alexander and Kealey were the two players who tallied a double-double in the night with Alexander recording 15 assists, on top of his four steals, and Kealey having 10 rebounds.
- Boyd III's second half performance was supported by his three-point percentage (71%/5-7) while going 5-9 (56%) from the field.
- Freshman, Jayden James, posted his best outing so far in his collegiate career with 7 points, three of them coming from his first collegiate trey.
- The Setters shot 66% from the field and a close 65% from the long range as the squad remains undefeated so far this season.
