Alexander Notches Career High 26 Points in Rout of Molloy

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Behind an impressive performance from Tray Alexander, Pace men's basketball dominated in game two of the Conference Challenge defeating Molloy University, 82-62. Alexander had his way in the paint knocking down 11-15 from the floor en route to a career-best 26 points.

With the commanding win, the Blue and Gold jump start their season with back-to-back wins improving to 2-0 in the early portion of the season.

Here's What Happened
  • In the first half, Pace led by as many as nine points to enter the locker room with a 34-26 advantage.
  • In the second half, the Lions threatened Pace's lead bringing the score to 42-33. However, two buckets from Alexander and an assist to Jaden Kealey pushed Pace ahead by 14 points, 49-35.
  • In the final minutes, two points under the hoop from Darren Fergus extended the Setter lead to the highest margin of the day, 80-55. The rest of the way Pace entered cruise control capturing their second win of the year by a final score of 82-62.
  • The Blue and Gold made the most of their extra opportunities in the second half scoring 16 points off of turnovers. In similar fashion to last season, the Setters made their presence known down low tallying 20 or more points in each half inside the paint.
Box Score Insights
  • Alexander stuffed the stat sheet with 26 points, four rebounds, and three assists to go with 2 steals. The Freeport, N.Y. native surpassed his previous career-high by two points in the contest.
  • Josh Hopson was efficient under the hoop knocking down 6-10 shots, racking up 16 points.
  • Kealey dominated on the glass hauling in a game-high 11 rebounds to pair with 12 points. His double-double performance marks the second of his career.
  • As a team, Pace made 45.9% of their shots from the floor compared to Molloy's 40.4%.
  • Points off turnovers made an immense difference in the game as the Setters tallied 21 compared to the Lions' eight.
After two games away from their home court the Setters return to Pleasantville, N.Y. on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. for an out-of-conference match-up against Bloomfield College.
