PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The grit and determination of Pace Men's Basketball is paying off as they clinched a spot in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Top-25 Poll for week 2 of the 2024-25 release.
The Setters are no stranger to the NABC Polls as in the 2023-24 season they were listed for two consecutive weeks at 24 and 19, but their highest was 9th in the 1992 season, which voting was conducted by the NCAA at the time.
The Setters are the lone Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference team represented in the top-25 in the Week 2 edition of the poll and they are currently the only undefeated team in the conference with a 6-0 overall record.
Coming off two critical wins over NE10 teams who were receiving votes in the Week 1 NABC Poll, Bentley University and University of New Haven, by scores of 73-61 and 73-56, the Setters are looking to continue their streak this weekend in Rutherford, NJ.
As a unit, Pace currently averages 77.7 points per game while holding their opponents to 60.5. The team is being led by two-time NE10 Player of the Week and former D2 National Player of the Week (11/19),
Tray Alexander, with a double-double in points and assists (15.8ppg / 10.5 ast/g) while shooting 53% (40-75) from the field.
Two more members in the Blue and Gold are sitting with a double-digit scoring average;
Jaden Kealey is second on the team with 14.8 ppg while
Jabari Nurse is third with 12.0. Behind the arc,
Justin O'Neill is leading the charge with 41% (7-17).
Southern Connecticut State (SCSU) is receiving votes to wrap up the NE10 representation on the NABC list. The 2023-24 runner-up, Nova Southeastern (Fla.) sits in that top spot in the poll with West Texas A&M second and MSU Moorehead (Minn.) third.
The Setters will hit the road on Saturday, Nov. 30, to play Felician University in Rutherford, NJ. Tip-off is set for 3:00pm.
