Stockinger's Double-Double Propels Setters Over Lightning

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - After three straight road games, Pace Women's Basketball returned home to Goldstein Fitness Center Tuesday evening to host Goldey-Beacom College.

The Setters were able to bounce back into the winner's circle when they tallied 24 points in the fourth quarter for the 69-62 non-conference victory. The squad improves to 2-5 overall.

Here's What Happened:
  • The first quarter leaned in favor of the Lightning 16-11. The Setters would score the first points of the game, but would draw cold for almost 5-minutes once they reached the 7th point marker. Ciara Collins broke the Setter cold streak netting a pair from the free throw line, 14-9, and Arianna Stockinger would tally the final points of the quarter, 16-11.
  • Pace held their opponents to 12 points in the second while the hosts recorded 21. Katumina Mansaray ignited the scoring feat for the Setters with a jumper inside the paint, 16-13, and it would be Collins giving the Blue and Gold the 19-18 lead. After two more ties and one more lead change, Stockinger made her way to the basket to score twice for the 28-26 advantage and allowed the hosts to end the half in front, 32-28.
  • Entering the second half of play, both teams battled for lead and it was Pace, thanks to a trey from Morgan Ryan, would came out on top 45-42 with just 10-minutes remaining in the contest.
  • Stockinger and Collins netted a combined five points to increase their lead to eight, 50-42. Their eight point lead would be featured three more times throughout the quarter, as it was their highest of the night, and by the end of the contest the Setters secured the 69-62 victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Stockinger led the charge in the night with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Collins and Mansaray tallied double-figure points with Collins being second on the team with 16 points and Mansaray 10.
  • Shanice Sinclair added four helpers and seven rebounds on top of her nine points. and Ryan went a perfect 4-4 from the line, as well as Collins, and recorded seven points.
  • Pace shot 76% (22-29) from the charity stripe to help secure their non-conference win.

Pace Women's Basketball will stay in Pleasantville on Sunday, Dec. 1, when they host St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) at 1:30pm.
