2024 Hall of Fame Spotlight: Casey Gelderman '18 Women's Lacrosse

PLEASANTVILLE, NY – In a podcast style interview, Pace Athletics Graduate Assistant, Jack Cunningham, speaks with the first women's lacrosse player to be inducted into the Pace Hall of Fame, Casey Gelderman '18.

Gelderman brings forth a lot of "firsts" for the program. She was part of the inaugural roster for women's lacrosse in 2015, the first ever All-American in 2017 during her junior season, and now being the first women's lacrosse player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

During the conversation, Gelderman praised her team, especially during her freshman season where there was about 20 first year college students participating. "We have to show them what we can do and that we have to be taken seriously… teams would come to us and think we're just a bunch of freshmen, we don't have to prepare … We [Pace] had the element of surprise that first year."

She continues credit her success to her team when Cunningham asks about her All-American status. "It's a tribute to not only my success, but our team's success... That year [2017] we were being ranked nationally and started to get attention in the top 20… they helped me get there."

Gelderman is the current record holder in career goals with 218 and is second all-time in points with 252. During the time of her obtaining All-American status, she recorded a season stat line of 61 goals, four assists, 65 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers and 66 draw controls.

As the interview began to wrap up, Cunningham asks about the inductee's thoughts on the future of the program, "Me and my former teammates always look back and see their media days, their equipment reveals, and all the opportunities they have … we started that, we created that, and I'm so glad that they can have that and that we really made a name for Pace women's lacrosse."

"This is the legacy we started and now look where they ended up", 2023 NCAA National Champions and 2024 NE10 Champions.

UP NEXT: We will transition over to the hardwood where Cunningham speaks to Al Elliott, a 2002 graduate from Men's Basketball, who is another inductee who etched his name into program history starting from his freshman season.
