PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Pace Football (2-5 / 2-3 NE10) participated in Pace University's Homecoming Weekend with a Northeast-10 (NE10) match-up, presented by Northwell, versus American International College (AIC) on Saturday afternoon.
The blue and gold tallied the first touchdown of the day and the score was eventually tied after one full half of play. By the final quarter, the score remained 7-7 until the Yellow Jackets posted a touchdown with less than a minute remaining for the 14-7 Setter defeat.
Here's What Happened:
- AIC had the opportunity for the 3-0 advantage during their opening drive but was upended by Lennyn Fulgencio when he blocked the field goal attempt and kept the opponents at nil.
- On the following drive, Ah-Shaun Davis and the offensive line made their way down the field into the red zone with Joshua Glenn as the target for the blue and gold touchdown, 7-0.
- Prior to intermission, the score sat tied at 7. The Setters would not post another point throughout the remainder of the contest while the Yellow Jackets recorded one more touchdown with 27 seconds remaining.
- Aidan Kennedy took the charge for the final Pace drive and connected with Tyreek Smith while rushing 16 yards in hopes of equalizing the score. Unfortunately, time was not on the Setters side and the score favored AIC, 14-7.
Box Score Insights:
- Davis and Kennedy combined for 112 passing yards with Davis leading the duo with 83 and a touchdown.
- Nasir Robinson led all rushers with 72 yards in 11 carries and Christopher McGuire was second on the team with 37 in 8 carries.
- Smith recorded three catches for 51 yards and Glenn, who tallied the touchdown reception, ended the day with 40 yards in two catches.
- Joshua Tachie-Mensah and Jeremy Mendez led the defensive line with nine tackles. The Setters tallied 42-yards in tackle for losses and the crew of Mendez, Paul Cimicata, Christian Aiken, Jayson Chavous, and Shawan Gresham recorded sacks in the day.
