Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Setters Handle Business on the Road Against AIC

SPRINGFIELD, MA. – On Saturday afternoon, Pace field hockey cruised past American International College, 3-1, to increase their win streak to six games. Behind a great effort on both sides on the field, the Setters held the Yellow Jackets to one goal and earned their 11th victory of the season improving to 11-5 overall, and 8-3 in the Northeast-10.

Here's What Happened
  • Jenna McCrudden made her presence known with a goal in the first five minutes to give Pace an early 1-0 advantage. The Blue and Gold have become accustomed to quick starts, tallying a first-quarter goal in 11 of their 16 contests. American International answered back five minutes later to even the game 1-1 and after the opening quarter, the score remained all square.
  • Following a scoreless second quarter, both sides looked to break the tie moving into the second half. Opportunities were prominent for the Blue and Gold to begin the half and at the 39-minute mark, Carlotta Oschmann found the back of the net to push the Setters ahead 2-1. On the defensive end, Pace continued to hold their ground limiting the Yellow Jackets to 2 shots through three quarters.
  • In the final quarter of the day, the Setters added extra insurance with a scoop and score from Krista Dietz to increase their lead to 3-1. In the final eight minutes, AIC found momentum with five shots, but Morgan Strecker kept them off the board as Pace claimed the road victory, 3-1.
Box Score Insights
  • Dietz increased her point streak to five games with a goal and an assist in the winning effort. The senior reached 191 career points in the contest as she moves into sole possession of sixth place on the Northeast-10 all-time points leaders list.
  • McCrudden increased her goal streak to five games as she continues to be a focal point of the Setter's offense. After her transfer during the offseason, the graduate student has shined for the Blue and Gold with 12 goals so far this year.
  • Oschmann posted her second-career goal while Kyleigh Kearney recorded her second assist of the season.
  • Away from their home turf, the Setters boast a 6-1 record as they have been victorious in six straight road games. As the season's end nears, Pace holds fourth place overall within the conference.
With only two games remaining in the 2024 regular season, the Setters turn their attention to Southern Connecticut State University for a home match-up on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
