Dietz’s Six Points Leads Offensive Charge in Win Over SCSU

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Behind six points from Krista Dietz, Pace field hockey had an offensive barrage on Tuesday with a 6-1 rout of Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU).

In a showcase of all-around talent on the field, head coach Kayte Biordi celebrated her 100th win under the Setters. The victory improved Pace's record to 12-5 overall, and 9-3 in the Northeast-10 as one game remains on the schedule.

Here's What Happened
  • After the Owls tallied the opening goal, the Setters responded late in the quarter with a deflection from Dietz. The goal came with only ten seconds left in the quarter to even the score against SCSU at one.
  • A few minutes into the second quarter, Isabella Boertjes launched a goal into the back of the net giving Pace a 2-1 lead. The advantage continued to grow with a goal from Ella Tamweber off a penalty corner.
  • In the second half, the Blue and Gold picked up where they left off and scored two more goals in the first five minutes. Jenna McCrudden and Dietz both added to the lead and moving into the final quarter, Pace held a 5-1 lead over SCSU.
  • Early into the fourth, Tamweber tallied her second goal of the day delivering the final blow to the Owls. Six unanswered goals were the difference maker in the lopsided, 6-1, win for the Setters.
Box Score Insights
  • Dietz put together another stellar performance leading the Blue and Gold with six points off of 2 goals and 2 assists. Her second goal highlighted the 75th career goal for the Mahopac, N.Y. native.
  • Molly Paterson recorded a defensive save (14th this season) to tie the all-time program record at 18. 
  • Tamweber posted her first career multiple-goal effort. McCrudden increased her goal streak to six games while Boertjes added the go-ahead goal for her fifth point of the year.
  • Celeste Pagliaroli and Morgan Strecker shared the duties in goal as Pagilaroli posted four saves while Strecker had two.
  • The Setters produced another outstanding effort on the defensive end holding the Owls to 12 shots compared to Pace's 21.
Season Statistic Leaders
  • With one game remaining in the 2024 regular season, the Setters boast several statistic leaders among the NCAA.
  • Currently, the duo of Dietz and McCrudden both rank within the top ten in total points with Dietz claiming second (53 points) and McCrudden slotting in at eight (35 points).
  • On the defensive end, Paterson ranks second in the NCAA for total defensive saves with 14.
  • Pagliaroli holds two top-ten spots in save percentage (79.1%) and saves per game (6.0).
The Setters will ride a seven-game winning streak into the final regular season match-up, set for this Saturday at noon against Bentley University.
