Setters Triumph in Four Set Battle against SCSU

NEW HAVEN, CT. – In a close match against Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), Pace volleyball came away with a 3-1 win on the road. The victory helped improve their record to 8-7 overall, and 2-2 within the Northeast-10 conference.

Here's What Happened
  • Each team traded points in the early portion of the first set finding themselves all square at six. After dropping the next point to fall behind, 6-7, the Blue and Gold rallied back with five straight points taking an 11-7 lead. The Owls inched back to within two points, 16-14, but Pace answered and closed out the set taking a 25-17 win.
  • A few errors to begin the second set left Pace trailing, 12-9. SCSU continued to extend the lead, but Pace fought back into the set tying the game at 22. Despite the late push, the Owls fended off the rally to hold on in set two, 26-24.
  • Even at one set each heading into the third, the Setters leaped out to a 5-1 advantage. Following back-to-back points from the Owls, Pace strung together a 9-3 run to take a 14-6 lead. The Blue and Gold held the upper hand the rest of the way capturing the third set 25-18.
  • In a back-and-forth final set, Pace gained a two-point advantage, 20-18, after back-to-back service aces from Annika Blas-Cedeno. The Owls responded with two of the next three points but the Setters ended on a four-point run to close out the match, 25-20.
Box Score Insights Volleyball returns to their home court on Friday at 6:00 p.m. for an in-conference match-up against Saint Anselm College.
