McCrudden Scores Twice in Shutout Win Against Molloy

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Behind two goals from Jenna McCrudden, Pace field hockey captured a 4-0 victory over Molloy University. With the all-around performance at home, the Blue and Gold improve to 8-5 overall, and 5-3 in the Northeast-10.

Here's What Happened
  • McCrudden broke open the scoring for Pace with a goal eight minutes into the opening quarter. Both sides remained quiet during the remainder of the half and moving into the second half the Setters held a 1-0 lead.
  • The defense made their presence known in the first half surrendering no shots to the Lions.
  • Out of the half, Katelyn Fairhurst managed to sneak in a shot on the right side to increase Pace's lead to 2-0. On the defensive end, the Setters continued the shine surrendering only one shot on goal in the quarter.
  • In the final quarter, Pace stepped on the gas pedal and delivered two more goals off the sticks of Krista Dietz and McCrudden. When the clock struck zero, Pace held a 4-0 advantage to earn their eighth win on the year and fifth within the conference.
Box Score Insights
  • McCrudden has made an immediate impact in her first year with the Setters. With the two-goal performance, the graduate student increased her point total to 25 on the season.
  • Dietz added a goal and an assist in the contest while Fairhurst tallied her sixth goal of the year. Anne Kopec notched her third assist of the season. 
  • Defensively, the Setters held the Lions to a mere three total shots compared to their 19.
  • Molly Paterson produced another solid performance earning a defensive save in the match-up. The junior currently leads the team in defensive saves with nine and ranks second in the conference with an average of 0.69 per game.
Next in store for field hockey is a weekend match-up at home against Franklin Pierce University. The action begins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday as Pace celebrates Senior Day at Peter X. Finnerty Field.
