Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day Versus Assumption

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Pace Women's Soccer celebrated their senior day at Northwell Stadium prior to the start of the Northeast-10 match-up with Assumption University on Saturday evening.

After trailing the Greyhounds for over 80 minutes, the Setters booted the ball down the field for the 1-1 draw with their opponents. This is Pace's second consecutive game ending in a tie.

Here's What Happened:
  • During the opening minutes, both teams were battling for the first goal of the night. Pace found their way in front of the net for a penalty kick but was saved by the visiting keeper.
  • By the 41st minute, Assumption shot out in front with a 1-0 advantage over the hosts and they would maintain that lead through the second half of play... Until that 84th minute.
  • With the Setters itching to find the back of the net, it was a team effort of three blue and gold athletes who equalized the score. Hildur Unnarsdottir started the drive from the right side of the field to find Alexis Lee on the left side of the net. Lee controlled the ball and tapped to her right to the foot of Ava Viebrock for the tie at 1 and ultimately closed out the game a draw.
Box Score Insights:
  • Viebrock posted the lone Setter goal in the night while Shannon Selvaggio led the offensive push with three shots, each of them on goal. Lee and Taylor Moyer also tallied three shots.
  • Keeper, Annabella Cole, recorded eight saves through 90 minutes in goal.
  • The Setters were one shot shy of Assumption in shots, 14-13, but were out in front with four corners compared to Greyhounds three.

UP NEXT: ROBERTS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
