Setters Major Fourth Quarter Leads to Win Over Saint Anselm

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - In a thriller of a Saturday afternoon, the Pace Football squad welcomed Saint Anselm to Northwell Stadium for the Setters to hand the Hawks their first conference loss of the season.

The Setters posted a comeback in the fourth quarter with 15 points to equalize the score, 20-20, and ultimately tackled the Hawks for the 26-20 double overtime victory.

Here's What Happened:
  • Saint Anselm posted the first touchdown of the game to kick off the first quarter, 7-0. The Setters ignited their point value with a safety to enter intermission trailing by five, 7-2.
  • By the third, Pace held the Hawks to just a field goal, 10-2, and ultimately one final touchdown in the fourth, 17-2. However, the fourth bled blue and gold when the squad tallied 15 points on an Ah-Shaun Davis touchdown to Rober Ennis and a Christopher McGuire rushing touchdown, 17-17.
  • In the first frame of overtime, both squads tallied a field goal to extend the contest into a second, 20-20. Pace had the ball first during this time and it led to Nasir Robinson finding the end zone for a rushing touchdown, 26-20.
  • The final drive for Saint Anselm was halted immediately by the Setter defense. At third and three, Jordan Clanton pushed his way to the quarterback for a sack and forced the fourth downplay for the Setter victory, 26-20.
Box Score Insights:
  • Davis threw for 188 yards and led the team with 78 rushing yards. Robinson was right behind his quarterback with 58 yards in 16 carries.
  • Teddy Harper and Tyreek Smith had five catches apiece with Harper leading the Setters with 61 yards and Smith with 41.
  • The defense was led by Christian Aiken and Eliot Porter with nine tackles. Additionally, Aiken posted a tackle for a 3-yard loss. Paul Cimicata had two tackles for a nine-yard loss and a sack for a seven-yard loss.
  • The Setters improve their NE10 record to 2-2 and 2-4 overall.

Pace Football will have their bye week for Week 7 of the season and will be back at Northwell Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25, for their homecoming event versus American International College at 1 pm.
