PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon,
Krista Dietz and
Katelyn Fairhurst tallied two goals each to lead Pace field hockey to a 6-2 victory against Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC). With the in-conference win at home, the Setters improve to 5-4 overall and 2-2 within the Northeast-10.
Here's What Happened
- The Blue and Gold wasted no time, finding the back of the net 27 seconds into the contest off the stick of Fairhurst. The Setters extended their lead to 2-0 11 minutes later with a goal from Patience Mares. Later in the quarter, Pace struck again as Dietz joined the goal-scoring barrage to close out the first with a 3-0 lead.
- After a dominant opening quarter, Pace kept the pressure on in the second with a goal from Dietz at the 24-minute mark. With the goal, the Setters moved into halftime with a commanding 4-0 lead over STAC.
- Fairhurst opened the scoring in the second half with her second goal of the day giving the Setters a 5-0 advantage. The Spartans responded with two goals at the end of the third to trim Pace's lead to 5-2.
- The Blue and Gold continued to step on the gas in the final quarter as Jenna McCrudden launched a goal into the net with eight minutes left. The 6-2 lead held in the final minutes as Pace cruised to an in-conference victory over the Spartans.
